The Blog:

The Daily Goob was first created in May 2004 by Jeff Guebert as a personal blog. It was initially powered by Blogger and hosted on a Tripod account, but after the first year of having it, Jeff registered and moved it over to its current domain of dailygoob.com. After the second year, the decision to change over to WordPress was made because of speed and other minor issues with Blogger. For the third anniversary, Jeff began to post video clips on occasion turning The Daily Goob into a hybrid blog/vlog (video blog), and experiment that lasted for all of a single post.

The name of the blog came from a nickname Jeff has had since elementary school, namely a shortening of a common mispronunciation of his last name (Goob). With the intent that it would be updated daily along with the fact that news blog authors are sometimes seen as independent journalists (although there was never any intent on making this into a news blog), The Daily Goob was decided on as the title. As of December 2011, Jeff has been living up to the blog’s name by making a post every single day for over four and a half years.
