I Could Really Use More of These Days
Ah, working from home. Such a wonderful feeling to have your alarm go off, actually turn it off entirely, and then lounge in bed for the hours you’d otherwise spend forcing yourself to wake up, get ready for work, and then drive to the office. After that, booting up the laptop, firing off emails, taking care of tasks via the wonders of DirectAccess, and scheduling more meetings for later in the week all from the comfort of my computer chair or couch with the TV on in the background and a kitchen 15 steps away with food I know I like (unlike the Microsoft cafeteria roulette). Sure, a day like today would be much more appreciated when I didn’t just come off a vacation, but I’ll take them as they come.
My trade for today is a fairly busy tomorrow and at least decently busy Friday. Sinan and I are grabbing a lunch that he was a couple days late in suggesting before I left to go to Dallas, and then it’s a solid block of meetings on my calendar. It’s actually quite convenient that I’m getting lunch with Sinan because I have to stop by the company store to get a copy of WHS 2011 to go along with some computer purchasing I did today. Yeah, when you work from home you don’t feel bad about doing internet shopping in between responding to emails, and things can get expensive really, really fast. On second thought, maybe days like today aren’t actually the best way to go…
