Seattle, I Am Not Amused
“Don’t worry, it never snows in Seattle.” That’s what I was told. Liars, that’s what those people are. Dirty, rotten liars. Sure, there may not have been any snow last winter, but there’s always the anomaly, right? For the third time this season, Seattle is basically expecting to get dumped on in the near future. The first (right before Thanksgiving) was pretty bad. The second (right after I escaped to Dallas for Christmas) was more like what Dallas snow is supposed to be like (although apparently someone mixed up that weather forecast with Denver this year). The third, basically in progress right now (although no snow is falling at the moment, and everything that fell earlier has melted away), will regain it’s force early tomorrow and should bring up to 6 inches by tomorrow afternoon. For a day that was supposed to be pretty full at work, it’s quickly dwindled, so I’ll make the appropriate call on whether or not to postpone the few things I have left depending on if it looks like I’ll have a shot at being able to make it back home tomorrow night or not.
Hmm, I talked both about the weather and my day tomorrow in the first paragraph. Not good, not good…well, I only have 10 more days of work before my next vacation. Is that interesting enough? Fine, technically 11 since I’ll still be “working” Wednesday by being available on email, but I’ll be out of Seattle for all but the first 6 hours of it. Then, in the following days I’ll be exerting far more energy than I ever do while I’m here on a regular basis, so you could argue that I’ll be “working” even harder. Since it’s vacation time I’ll still be paid for it, but my money:energy spent ratio will be much lower. Huh, maybe I’m not really going on a vacation at all.
