So, happen to notice anything…unique about my post yesterday? It appears that the beta version of Windows Live Writer likes to turn :) into
. I saw this in the program and intended to go check and make an edit if the actual image showed up. My short attention span got me distracted onto something else, so that’s why that didn’t happen.
Today, as predicted, was not boring at all, and I can hope the same will apply to tomorrow. There’s a slightly larger gap in my afternoon than I might like, but I guess not every day can be perfect. Just one day left for something, anything, to pop up on my calendar for Friday, but I’d say that the outlook (pun intended, so think about it if you don’t get it) isn’t too bright for something like that happening…

So, while tonight was not my first experience with the Play To functionality in Windows 7, I needed to reconnect my 360 to Media Center, and I felt it was a good time to play around with it again (also to see if I could make it work properly with my WDTV Live). It not only worked, but it reminded me of of how much sweeter Microsoft’s technology can be than Apple’s, even if it may not be all shiny on the surface or have cool marketing speak around it. I took both my 360 and WDTV, had different videos streaming to each), the ability to control the streams independently, and I had to do nothing aside from turn each device on. You’d think Apple would see the potential there with the Apple TV + iPad, but I guess some companies just aren’t as visionary as others.
Hey, look! Tomorrow my day is nicely spaced, just about the right amount of stuff to do, and then in the interim I do have a couple things to do that will keep me from being bored. Not only that, but Thursday is the same way! Oh, and as of now, my Friday is still entirely open. Yep, I think this week is going to turn out quite nicely if everything keeps going as currently planned.

I had this grand vision of actually watching the movie I’d gotten from Netflix tonight, but I kept procrastinating, and procrastinating, and procrastinating that I really don’t feel like staying up until after 1:00 just to watch it. This just gives me even more time to be distracted with the internet and find reasons to not go to sleep. Now that I say that, I’ll probably end up going to bed early knowing me.
Steam has been having one of their crazy sales again, but I’ve managed to hold off on buying anything so far this time. Nothing that appears to be as addicting as Peggle or Plants vs Zombies has hopped onto my radar, and I think I’m good with full blown games for the time being. Good meaning of course that I don’t need them, but just like with God of War III, if it’s the right game at the right price, anything goes.

So yeah, no Wordpress work got done this weekend, despite my intentions to do so 48 hours ago. With 72 hours to tackle a project like this next weekend (yes, I get Monday off!), perhaps I’ll have better luck then. Of course, that’s assuming I don’t find some way to completely waste my additional 24 hours which is highly possible.
My calendar for this week is decent at this point in time, but it could stand to be a little more busy in the afternoons. Friday is still totally wide open for me, and going with the guidance of my mentor from Labor Day last year, everyone will be leaving around lunch time anyway. That likely explains why I have zero meetings the entire day, and I wouldn’t expect for many to pop up on my calendar between now and then either.

Even though I had no need to buy it, I bought a game on sale a couple weeks ago from Walmart’s online store, and they have a free “we ship it to our store, you come pick it up” option. In no rush to get the game, I decided to opt for that route. Well, on my way to pick it up today, I was probably about 200 yards from the parking lot waiting on a left turn signal (with quite a few other people mind you). The traffic lights appeared to be working fine in almost every regard except for the fact that we were never being allowed to turn left. Finally the line collectively decided to screw the turn signal and just go ahead and treat it like it was a normal green light. As if Seattle really needed more ways to make me get pissed off at it’s traffic…
That was really my big agenda item for the day, and the rest of my afternoon was taken up with Lost and WoW. From what I remember, I wasn’t hooked on Alias or Fringe right from the first episode either, so the fact I don’t feel the need to watch 5 at a time isn’t worrying me at this point. I’m sure that sooner or later I’ll have it click and get just as attached. If I get to the end of the first season and still feel like that however, then maybe it’s at that point I rethink my time investment.

Around a week ago I declared that I had the weekend project of doing my Wordpress 3.0 upgrade; it looks like this weekend is going to be a great time to at least start that. The way I have it planned in my mind is that I’m going to have my primary installation be hosting JG.com, and then I’ll look into how to transfer this blog into an additional site hosted by that same installation. If it turns out that I have to do both upgrades and then merge them in order for everything to work the best so be it, but I will eventually get everything running on just a single installation hopefully.
My other weekend project is to do the research and buy the parts that I need in order to start playing around with some embedded development stuff. Considering how much I hated Intro to Digital Systems at UTD this might just be one giant project of fail, but I have nothing else to occupy my time with at the moment. Except for Lost…and video games…and Netflix movies. Yep, nothing at all.

I can actually go back to watching TV shows from Netflix now since ABC is willing to let Lost be one of the Watch Instantly options. I was considering waiting until this weekend to start, but I went ahead and watched the first half of the pilot today. I’ll hold off until I’m a few episodes in to give my initial impressions, but knowing me, that shouldn’t take very long.
I might go see a movie this weekend, but probably not Toy Story 3 yet. Next weekend there will be Twilight to deal with (but no worries, I haven’t gone insane enough to even contemplate wanting to see it), so perhaps I should go this weekend and take next weekend off. Next weekend is also the 4th, so that would logically make crowds even worse. Yeah, I’m thinking that if I see a movie in my near future, this weekend is definitely the best option.

So it didn’t take me another weekend to get caught up on Fringe, and now I encounter the horrible situation of having to wait for new episodes to air. In the meantime, I can either spend the time equivalent on playing some of my games (which I should likely do) or by starting another show (what I’ll probably do). Jarrett has been trying to convince me that I shouldn’t get started with Lost, but I think that’s probably what will win. The only other real alternative would be to go through both seasons of Dollhouse, but since that series isn’t going anywhere either, I think it can go ahead and wait.
Tomorrow I at least have a not totally empty afternoon, and that’s a good thing because today was fairly boring overall. That isn’t to say that I didn’t manage to stay busy doing some tedious, manual work that needed to be done, but it isn’t really representative of what my ideal day would be like. Of course, this still leaves tomorrow morning open, but one can hope I can at least handle my boredom for half a day.

For a big of a movie person as I am, there are some glaring holes in my resume. One of those prior to tonight was The Princess Bride. Hey, I finally figured out where the “My name is Inigo Montoya” quote comes from! Anyway, Netflix thought I’d love it; I wasn’t quite as big on it as it predicted. It was still worth watching just to say that I finally have, but I’ll probably never go back to it as one of my entertainment movies. My score: 6/10.
Tomorrow, if you look at my calendar, is completely free. No blue, no purple, no striped blue. All white. If there wasn’t stuff that I could be doing which wouldn’t require me to be at my desktop, tomorrow would be an awesome work from home day. In fact, tomorrow is one of the days that I was referring to last week when this discussion previously came up. Ah well, once I have nothing else to do but write documents, then perhaps the optimal day will come for me to sit on my couch the whole day long.

Andrew and I have been talking online tonight (with voices!), but finding a medium for communication was more difficult than it needed to be. The initial idea had me downloading a program, setting up the server, getting the password from Andrew, connecting, and then experiencing weird minute long delays between when he said stuff and when I heard it. So much for that idea. The backup plan was to use Skype, but then neither of us could connect to each other. Andrew was ready to give up at that point, but I persevered and was finally able to successfully connect. So for the past hour, we’ve been talking on Skype.
Tomorrow…still seems to be pretty boring. It might be good for letting me get planning work done, but who really wants to do that? Of course, I say that now, but in two months I’m just going to be wishing desperately that I had some additional planning time. Unfortunately you can’t save time in this manner, so I better make the most of it now.
