Welcome to the Dark Side
I didn’t quite get to everywhere that I wanted to go shopping today, but I still hit my big purchase. My current laptop I got right before I started school at UTD, so it’s almost 4 years old. It was $1500 then but also a tablet, so it wasn’t exactly top of the line even at that point in time, and it’s definitely starting to show its age. Therefore, when Microcenter was having a sale for a decently specced laptop originaly for $1000 but with a $200 rebate, I felt the time was right to do ahead and upgrade. Sure, I could have gone the online ordering route and customized a Dell or HP, but dude, I got an Apple!
The rebate was because it’s not the newest aluminum version that Apple has out, so they’re (most likely) just trying to clear out their existing inventory of the older models. I haven’t opened it yet and probably won’t until the start of next week just to see if they bump up the rebate amount, in which case I’ll go back so that I can get it for even cheaper. Until then, it shall sit of my floor, staring at me unopened, silently mocking me that of all the companies I could have bought a computer from after getting a job with Microsoft, I chose to go with Apple. I guess this officially makes me a switcher now.
