Six hours ago, I’d have said that we were going to have a problem doing our demo on Friday because while each part worked individually, they didn’t seem to want to work together. Now, I think our demo should go almost flawlessly since everything seems to clicking together perfectly. It’s both nice and insanely annoying at the same time how one bug can go from not making things work together at all to a complete and fully functional program. For the record, it wasn’t my bug, so I was having to wait on someone else to solve it since I wasn’t about to try to go understand their code.
Tomorrow is not a day of baseball that I’m looking forward to, so the rain can go ahead and postpone the tournament for all I care. Granted, Friday and Saturday aren’t going to be much warmer days to deal with, but sitting outside at 7:00 tomorrow night for about two hours is not high up on my priority list. I’d say it would be somewhere between “sit in a car for a 12 hour trip” and “go work at my internship at Rockwell Collins”.

We almost pulled off a win tonight, but alas, there shall be no undefeated record in district play again this year. At 6-7 (0-1), we now take our next to last break from district play for the HP tournament this weekend. There’s a question of exactly how many of the three games on Thursday and Friday I can go to, but I can at least be at the Thursday night one.
All the P2P project needs is some polishing done, and then I’m effectively done with all of my school work (sans classes) for the week. There’s some planning I need to go for the game event, but I don’t really count that as “school work”. That’s more in the realm of “extracurricular activities that Jeff wouldn’t do if he actually bothered to think things through before agreeing to things”.

With the exception of tomorrow and possibly Sunday, the next potentially warm day in my future isn’t until a week from Friday. Wednesday through Saturday the high isn’t supposed to get out of the 40s or 50s, and on top of that there’s supposed to be rain. Next Monday through Thursday I’m in Park City, but I actually hope that the weather won’t be all that warm there. Oh well, I guess the weather gods just want me to get mentally ready for being cold ahead of time.
Tomorrow is the first district game in baseball, and therefore to an extent the first one that really counts. With a current record of I believe 6-6, we’re not doing horrible but could definitely be better. Unfortunately Newman Smith is one of those schools where it’s actually closer to my house than HP is, yet I still have to go to HP before and and return there before I come home. tomorrow night.

The next five days, regardless of grade, are some of the most annoying ones to deal with at school. As the longest break without exams to worry about immediately preceding, the week before spring break is really just an exercise in trying to care about what is going on, a task that gets harder to do as the week goes on. Fortunately my Friday class is just a presentation, so my paying attention can stop as of Thursday at 3:45. Because of the Austin trip I don’t really feel like I need next week as a break from school, I just want it to come so that I can have another vacation.
The game on sale this weekend on Steam was World of Goo, and at $5, it was really easy to be an impulse buy. I doubt it (or anything) can replace Peggle as my casual game of choice in the near future, but who would have thought that Peggle would have gained that spot to begin with? At least I’m not buying games for my iPhone yet; when I reach that level of impluse buying, my entertainment habits need a long examination.

In the past, Saturday away games have normally been slightly annoying. Obviously this is because they take up the better part of the day, but the other big reason is that we tend to not get charter buses. During the week we need them since HP is serviced by maybe one school bus total, but on the weekends that’s always what we get. Well, always up until today. I’m not sure what changed, but not having to load all of our stuff up into the bus along with much more comfortable seats is definitely some Saturday change that I can believe in.
I’m finally catching up on the 24 episodes from Monday that I skipped in favor of watching Chuck and Kyle XY. I figured that since it wasn’t like I had made any other progress with homework today, I’d continue to take the rest of the day off and watch the episodes tonight rather than waiting until tomorrow afternoon. The last thing I need is to get behind on watching another TV show (I’m looking at you, Fringe and Dollhouse).

With Fort Worth becoming a heck of a lot closer than I ever remember it being before, I went over there for a game only to have us lose. This likely means no movie tomorrow, but it hopefully still means that we’ll be doing something in between our game and when we play so that we’re not sitting around for two hours (assuming, of course, we don’t play the immediate next one). Maybe I should just stay home; the team is undefeated when I haven’t been around.
I love the fact that I have basically zero homework all next week except for the P2P project. A (generally) non-stressful week leading up to spring break is definitely a positive thing, and having all kinds of homework and tests to worry about would just totally ruin that. I’d propose no tests or homework for the whole rest of the semester, but I don’t see that going with the decision making people at UTD. Apparently there’s a reason college isn’t a democracy after all.

Spring break would almost be here under UTD’s old schedule, but since they got hit with the stupid schedule alignment stick, I have to wait another week. This actually ends up being for the better since my friend who lives in Park City has his spring break at the same time and will be there also, but in every other sense of aligning our schedules with UT and A&M, I prefer our old one better. Believe me, I won’t miss my last opportunity to complain about the reading days in between the last day of our classes and exams.
Tomorrow should be a class-home-baseball day because I really can’t see myself being up at UTD for three hours. My sources informed me that HP won both games today, so a win tomorrow and a win on Saturday will likely set us up for another movie viewing on Saturday. My personal vote would be for Watchmen, but as long as we don’t go see another Jumper, I don’t really care all that much.

Oh, Amazon. First you come out with the Kindle about 2 years after leaked shots of it surfaced, then you release a new, slightly less ugly version, but you still have it priced over $350. People aren’t going to drop that kind of cash to unless they are already sold on the concept which probably means they’re already locked into another ecosystem. So, what do you do? You release an iPhone app that turns Apple’s ubiquitous phone into a Kindle. Well played, Amazon. Now just release a desktop so I can read while working on homework and you’ll really have me hooked.
If today was blah day #1 of this week, tomorrow will be #2. Nothing to do except my two classes and then watch Survivor. However, I think my lack of stuff for tomorrow is just so that I won’t go insane on Friday and Saturday. Friday might end up being a phone post seeing as how there’s a scheduled 7:00 game in Fort Worth that I’d project just has about a 5% chance of starting on time. At least I can be reading books on my phone after I make my post!

The thought has probably come to your mind once or twice, “Why does Jeff write absolutely random and worthless stuff every day on this blog? Does he really think he’s so important that other people are going to want to read meaningless garbage about his life?” I must say that I am appalled you would think that Prince Jeff would ever think so highly of himself. If there’s one thing that Lord Jeff does not believe, it would be the fact that he believes he is superior to all of his followers. In fact, if King Jeff were to even consider that his subjects were not absolutely captivated by His Holinesses writings, he would decree that they should all be summarily executed. Something along those lines.
After four straight losses, a 13-2 run rule win was both a nice (and quick, only about 1:30) change. I won’t be going on Thursday since doing so would make me have to miss school again, but the only Friday game is at 7:00 so I will be going then. Fortunately since I have no other life as far as Friday nights go, a 7:00 game in Fort Worth doesn’t really do too much damage to my packed social schedule.

In the past 24 hours, I’ve received 65 Facebook notifications (and therefore emails) concerning three pictures I’ve been tagged in. If this sounds slightly excessive, it is. The pictures are all little conglomerations of cartoon characters with various descriptions concerning each one, and then each picture seems to spawn a thread of endless comments (and whenever someone comments on a photo you’re tagged in, notification time!!). Needless to say, my inbox has been quite happy, especially since about 6:30 this evening.
I think my test today went awesomely well, so hopefully that will carry over into tomorrow. I really have no idea what to expect on this test, so I’m just concentrating on the type of stuff that we’ve had our single quiz and two homeworks over. I think that should be a pretty good idea of what to expect. That doesn’t cover any of the conceptual/theory stuff though, but even if I started studying that now I’d make very little progress. Time to bust out my Vegas skills and play the odds so that I can hopefully do as well as possible.
