2009 B.C.: Caveman 1 – “Man, my legs are quite cold. I wish I had something to keep them warm.”
Caveman 2 – “Hey, take this animal fur and try wrapping it around your legs, maybe it will help.”
Caveman 1 – “Hmmm, let’s see… Brilliant, this is awesome!! What should we call this new invention?”
Caveman 2 – “I dunno….leg fur?”
Caveman 1 – “No, that just doesn’t have the right ring to it. I know, how about ‘pants’? I think that works quite well.”
2009 A.D.: Weather gods, we need to have a chat. You do not make me think that today is going to be a high in the 70s and sunny, and then turn it into low 60s and windy. Fortunately, I have friends with jackets and blankets that solved my “no jacket, no pants” problem. Watch yourselves, weather gods; you really don’t want to push me.
Tournament Record: 2-4

Today was just as comfortable as yesterday, but the weather gods may have found a way to screw me over yet. Tomorrow is supposed to be significantly colder, and since I brought no warm clothes, it’ll be interesting to see just exactly how cold I am. Weather gods, don’t make me hate you more than I already do.
Today we had “mall time” at a fairly unimpressive mall. There was a Brookstone, a massage lady, and a Dairy Queen, but that was about it. I think I’ll stick with Willow Bend and Northpark.

Today went quite well, being both fun and insanely warm. Having games with time limits is very nice and manages to keep everything relatively on schedule. Here’s to hoping this continues for the rest of the time.
Apparently there’s a new forecast for Saturday. The high has dropped to the 60s, and there are supposed to be winds of 40-50 mph. That should make for an interesting day, but hopefully it won’t be too cold since we play in the middle of the day.

My three day school week is done, I have everything packed, and now I just need to be up at HP around 8:30 or so tomorrow morning. I still have some videos that I need to put on my Zune, but aside from that, I’m basically ready. I would say that this trip might be fun this year, but it’s always fun. The more appropriate term would be…enjoyable maybe? Whatever it is, the fact that it’ll be warm for once is a big, big positive.
The way our schedule looks is that we’ll be having lunch tomorrow and Friday before our games and then eating dinner at the fields in between them. Slightly backwards from years past, but whatever works. I’m used to eating stadium food anyway, so it’ll be par for the course pretty much as far as I’m concerned.

Finally, no more baseball scrimmages to deal with. The one today at least wasn’t insanely long, and now for the next three weeks or so virtually all of the games will have time limits on them. I view this as the world righting itself for making me sit through four hour scrimmages.
I’m also basically packed for Austin; I only have a couple files that I want to throw on my Zune for watching left to do. Said files actually aren’t episodes of Alias, as you might expect them to be. Instead, I plan on catching up on Fringe since they won’t be airing any new episodes of it until April. Still J.J. Abrams, just a different show.

As if the 80 degree temperatures aren’t going to be awesome enough in Austin, I also get to sleep for a reasonable amount of time Wednesday night/Thursday morning. Since we don’t play until the two last games on Thursday, the bus doesn’t leave HP until 9:00. That means that rather then me needing to wake up at like 4:00 in the morning, I’ll get to sleep until at least 7:00. As long as Idon’t stay up late watching Alias episodes Wednesday night, I shouldn’t be dead tired for the bus ride there. Actually, maybe this isn’t such a good change in schedule…
I ordered all of my snowboarding stuff for Park City today, and doing that was really the last thing on my list for that trip before spring break rolls around. I need to figure out exactly how much of a time zone change there is for posting purposes, but it won’t be more than two hours regardless. Laptop or phone, either way I don’t see myself having a problem getting my posts in on that trip.

It’s all about the three day week now, if you weren’t aware. Said week consists of only four class periods totaling five hours of school, lots of sleeping in, and no homework to do the following weekend. Shouldn’t the shortest month also have the shortest school week? I thought so, completely logical thinking right there.
The portion of the Oscars that I watched tonight was entertaining enough, and the only award that I really cared anything about went the way that I wanted it to (Heath Ledger for Best Supporting Actor). Overall, I typically just don’t do the whole award show presentations on TV. It just seems like there are so many other productive ways I could be using my time aside from watching movies I generally don’t care about win things. If the awards were to include more of the movies that I tend to go see on a yearly basis, then maybe it’d have my attention just a little bit more.

After being quite cold at the baseball game today when I wasn’t keeping busy in the training room, I got home, decided I was tired, and attempted to take a quick nap. Normally when someone is tired, falling asleep comes fairly quickly. In my case, not so much. I had only planned on sleeping for an hour, but for the duration of my phone’s timer, I was completely and fully awake. So now not only are the weather and schedule gods against me, but the sleeping gods are too. We’ll see how round 2 goes in just a little while.
On the best news of the week front though, Austin is actually supposed to be warm this next week!! This isn’t just a “winter warm” that I’m happy about, but full blown highs in the 80s for Thursday and Friday. There doesn’t seem to be a cold front anywhere in the vicinity on the forecast right now, so maybe the weather gods just decided to take this one time off. Maybe I won’t be freezing cold on this trip for once. We can only hope…

Between yesterday and today, my boredness level has been at one of it’s higher levels recently. Nothing I can seem to come up with is anything that I feel like doing, so I’ve been settling for just watching videos on my computer. Last night it was two movies, today it’s been more Alias. I’m not even sure if playing WoW could break me out of being bored. I was going to wait until Tabula Rasa went offline to start playing trials of other MMOs, but since I’ve yet to get into it either, perhaps a journey into Middle Earth or space is what’s needed for tomorrow after I get home from baseball.
More and more I’m warming up to the whole prospect of digitally buying games from Steam. The closest thing to a game addiction I have right now is Peggle, and that’s not really the type of game one would go into a Gamestop and buy. It was actually the demo on Steam that then made me want to buy the full version, and the chat overlay of Steam is nice to use even in non-Steam games. Compared to what Steam was like back when it was in beta, it’s quite the nice program in 2009.

I just finished watching Mulan for the first time (at least, the first time I actually paid attention to it — I might have seen it at school back in 8th grade or so), and rather than start up an episode of Alias, I’m thinking that I’ll move onto The Simpsons Movie instead. Granted, I’ll probably move onto Alias afterwards, but I figure that schedule wise, I should probably get the longer one out of the way first.
I need not fear these plans of watching videos early into the morning since I’m not going to my class tomorrow. Technically, it’s not cancelled so I am “skipping”, but it’s a tutorial by the TA on a topic that doesn’t apply to my part of the project in a language that we’re not even using. I’m pretty sure that tomorrow would rank near the top of the most worthless classes in my history at UTD if I were to go to it.
