After I got a used copy of Rock Band yesterday so that I could so the song export feature for RB2, one would think that I’d be satisfied with my current state of music games. Well, that one person would be wrong. In fact, the newest Guitar Hero has some songs that intrigue me, so I may get it also. The good news here though is that additional plastic instruments will not be necessary, as Microsoft (and Sony, but they don’t matter in this discussion) made everyone play nice together as far as compatibility goes.
Today for some reason didn’t feel at all like a Sunday to me, but all the typical Sunday stuff happened. It’s also not my first Sunday of not needing to do homework for school, so I have no clue. This next week is significantly more boring than the previous one, with the bulk of my activities happening on Christmas Eve. Most of those actually take place at my house, so I don’t even get to go be busy somewhere else.

Not since I was 11 have I been a palindromic age, and considering that was when I was in 4th and 5th grade, I really don’t remember too much about it. Do events begin to repeat themselves starting on June 20th? What about time starting to move in reverse? Maybe everything that happens to me in Dallas for the first 6 months will happen again in Seattle. This could be a very, very interesting year of my life…
So, if it wasn’t apparent, this is an early post. As with (many of) my other early posts, it’s related to my possibly not being around my computer at my normal posting time. The occasion this time is because I’m going over to Sam’s house to watch the end of the Cowboys game and hang out afterwards. So, any Facebook wall posts I get between now and getting home will just have to wait for a response. Hear that, Facebook people?

If only today was 2007, I’d be in Las Vegas just getting out from having seen Spamalot. Also, there’d be some bold text and a timestamp at the start of this post along with it being in an additional cateogry. Alas, today is 2008, and we just finished a family “party” at my house, and I’m sitting up in my room typing this post. To be fair though, I do have three monitors here as opposed to only one in Vegas. I’d still take Vegas though.
As for tomorrow, my birthday is pretty unexciting. Aside from going out to dinner with my parents, I really don’t have anything planned. My day will probably just be TV and games (plus the hybrid of the two, playing games on the TV), but there are no big events like movies or parties filling up my schedule. This will also be potentially my last birthday (for a while) in Dallas. Not to say that all of my previous birthdays have been (last year being the easiest example of that), but not being here for the near future will probably be the norm rather than the exception.

I figure that to go along with my upcoming HDTV, I might as well buy some more electronics over the coming months that do little more than to satisy my need for an ever increasing amount of circuitry in my life. Two of my current thoughts are a car GPS device and noise canceling headphones (bonus points for being Bluetooth also). Both actually correlate nicely with my impending move to Seattle also: the GPS so that I don’t get lost up there, and the headphones for use on the flights back and forth (as well as to other places, but we know Seattle-Dallas will be the most common one).
Still nothing new on my plate for tomorrow, so I’ll once again be exercising the “sleep in” option that becomes available over any sort of holiday. Actually, I used that quite often during the school year given my schedule, and I’ll probably be able to use it even more in the spring. I don’t know about you, but I see no reason to get up at 8:30 or 9:00 every morning when my earliest class on any day doesn’t even start until 12:30.

No matter the game that I play, I always have this aversion to paying money for things that I can go out and farm myself (without too much difficulty). That would be the reason why, rather than just having one character in WoW and leveling it up to 80, I have seven different characters that between all of them have all of the game’s professions. So in the future, theoretically, almost any item that I want for myself, I can obtain without needing to expand my interaction beyond my login screen. Now, if Blizzard would just allow two connections from the same IP so that I could be playing two characters at once, then we’d really be talking.
Somewhat surprisingly, my tomorrow and Friday are still relatively open. Tomorrow I actually don’t have anything to do that I can think of off the top of my head, and Friday my only “must do” event is a family dinner. I’ll likely throw in a game of ultimate earlier in the afternoon, but still, very little in the context of what I must do. And then, of course, we have Saturday…

Four As (or A+s) down, one grade left to go. This is a class that I should get an A in, but if I don’t, I really have no one to blame but myself since I’m skipping the optional final tomorrow. Basically, rather than just needing an A average right now (which I actually probably don’t have, but then again probably no one but 1 or 2 people in the class do), I just need to be in the top 40-50% of grades. Since I’m not taking the final, my second midterm grade expands to fill in the void that the final would be taking up. I’m safely enough within that range right now that the people taking the final would have to do extremely well in order to leapfrog me, and the averages from the previous midterms just don’t show that happening. See, I can gamble even without going to Las Vegas for my birthday.
Today was very cold, unfun, and a great example of what weather in Texas is not supposed to be like. I think after it got dark it started to warm up since it was 27 at about 2:00, 28 at 7:00, and it’s 32 now. By Friday the high is supposed to be back up to 70. Little did I know that the weather was going to be having an identity crisis, but I hope it gets everything sorted out soon. All this cold weather can be saved for Park City and Seattle. As long as I’m here, let it be warm.

For a while I’ve been considering changing up the theme on this blog, and I think that with a pending upgrade to 2.7, the new year might be as good of a time as any to try one out. That said, I still need to find one that I like, and if I can’t expect nothing (or at least very little) to change. It took me long enough to find this one; maybe if I start now I can turn up at least one that I like within the next 15 days.
Park City over my spring break seems to be a go, and it also looks like Brandon will be there (my thought that he might be on a cruise with his dad is apparently a few years too many in the past). I’ll only be missing one baseball game as a result, and hopefully my body won’t hate me too much for propelling myself down the side of a mountain while (hopefully) gliding over snow. Actually, I expect my legs/ankles to be yelling at me quite a lot the first day, but hopefully for the last two they’ll shut up and let me enjoy myself.

Tomorrow I’m going to work with one of the baseball captains’ mom with some computer related stuff, Tuesday I have my exam (ok, so that is school), and Wednesday I go work with Mr. McDonald. There’s half of my week already filled up, and it’s not even Monday morning yet. Thursday and Friday are generally open as far as I can tell, but if I have free time, something is bound to come along to fill it up. That’s just how my life works.
I’ve noticed that aside from WoW and Warcraft 3, my gaming has slowed down a great amount recently. This is probably partly due to having all my school stuff to finish up, but even outside of that I’ve just been keeping myself entertained different ways. I haven’t made a birthday/Christmas list of games that I’ve given to my family as presents that I want go fortunately my backlog won’t grow by 20 or so as it typically does in the next week or two, but I definitely seem to be in the part of my gaming cycle where I don’t have much console-related stuff that interests me.

Since it’s not a movie I’m sure either of my parents would want to spend two hours watching, I put in Wanted tonight while they were both out at a party. It took me a little while to find my previous review of it, but I did do one in which I gave it a 9/10 and called it “pure awesomeness”. I also said that I might have to get the Blu-ray version (which didn’t end up happening), but my opinion on it is relatively unchanged. I might drop my score to an 8.5 now (still well within my score range for purchasing it), but it’s definitely a good action movie to put on when one is in the mood.
Before they left to go to their party, my mom told me that as a combo birthday/Christmas present if I wanted, they would buy me an HDTV for my room/taking to Seattle. Seeing as how I was looking at getting one anyway (hence how they knew and offered), it seems like a very obvious choice. Get $200-300 in cash, or a $700-1000 TV? I may like money, but I’m also not completely stupid.

WordPress is notifying me that version 2.7 is out (and has been for the past day or two), but I haven’t upgraded on the off chance that something would go wrong. After all, if I’m going to put my streak in harm’s way, I want to do so at the beginning of the day rather than at the end. 12 hours to fix something gone wrong is much nicer than 1-2 hours.
Sam and I have been playing Halo 3 over Live since I got home from ultimate frisbee. I’ve still yet to every even start the single player campaign on that game, showing just how much I’m not in love or feel compelled to play it. If I ever start working in Microsoft’s game division, the Halo franchise wouldn’t be one that I’d refuse to work on, but it definitely wouldn’t be at the top of my list.
