For pretty much the entire game tomorrow night, the temperature will be in the 30s. Not the wind chill, but the actual temperature. Fun, tomorrow is not going to be. Cold, tomorrow is going to be. They’re not mutually exclusive in all cases, but in this case, they most definitely are.
As it turns out, Andrew and I will both be employed at the same time by Microsoft for about a month next summer. He learned today that he got an internship offer from them and will start in late May while I will still be here in Dallas for another 6-8 weeks. This will likely turn out to be a good thing as I can learn from his experience of being up there for a month or two before I actually move up there. He got my benefit of going through the interview process first; I’ll get his benefit of going through the living/employment process first. :)

Sure, this won’t be my first Thursday off of the school year, but it is my second (last week notwithstanding since I was…otherwise occupied). It will be somewhat strange to come home after my game class and then have nothing else to do until an unspecified time on Friday when I will be going to HP. I really am going to miss not having a full day off next semester, but I can only hope that maybe my Friday class won’t be meeting every week.
Rather than BK or WoW tonight, I played the same consoles but replaced the games with Halo 3 and Warcraft 3 (of the Tower Defense variety). The flood of people all doing stuff in the general same area has turned me away from WoW for the time being, but I don’t think it will swing me far enough the other way to make me want to cancel my account. Seeing as how I’ve been playing for almost the past 2 years straight though, it wouldn’t be completely shocking if I was to decide to take an extended break, I guess.

I did have the intention on actually playing around with WoW’s addon system this evening, but I (re)discovered the fact that apparently there’s no really good editor for writing code that’s not just using Notepad. Ok, there are solutions better than just straight out Notepad, but nothing on the level of Visual Studio or Netbeans. I guess that’s what happens when a language is more of an independent group project rather than being backed by a big company. Maybe Microsoft will work on picking up Lua as its next language for Visual Studio?
If I honestly thought there was any chance that I’d make progress with it, I’d say that I’d start a project of writing my own. Given my track record, however, I think it’s better for everyone if I don’t and settle for a suboptimal solution or wait for something better to come along. After all, if I’m going to be spending all my time playing BK and WoW, I can’t very well fit in writing an IDE into my schedule, now can I?

Live finally decided to work for me, and as a result, I spent a good couple hours this afternoon playing the original Banjo-Kazooie. I basically played about a third of the whole game, but surprisingly I only really remembered the first level all that well. After that, it was a lot of exploration and (re)discovering things like I was playing the game for the first time. It’s not a game that holds up perfectly with age, but it’s still really, really fun regardless.
My HW solving program gave me the answer infinitely quicker than I could have done it by hand, so I’m definitely happy we were allowd to do that. I actually don’t think that I have any HW due for the rest of the week that I haven’t already done, so I should have plenty of time in the evening to play BK and also some WoW. With all the games I could be playing, I’m choosing a remake/port of an N64 game and then a MMO that’s really nothing more than a gigantic time sink. A fun time sink, mind you, but I just wonder what amazing scientific discoveries I could make if I had back all the time I’ve ever spent playing games…

Get it? Xbox Live, it’s not alive, so it’s a-dead?? Funny, yeah? Yeah?? Well, no one really cares about your opinion anyway. It’s funny, trust me. Since I’ve gotten home from the football game on Friday night I’ve been entirely unable to sign into Live, and that has the side effect of preventing my from playing Nuts & Bolts since it requires a software update from Live which, oh yeah, I can’t get.
I turned in my homework that was due on Friday earlier tonight (no worries, it was a completely valid time for me to turn it in without any penalty or even loss of extra credit points), and that means that for tomorrow, I just have a 500 word thing to type up for my education class and then write a short program to do all the hard work for me on my last Advanced Algorithms HW question. Once again, a perfectly legal solution as long as we have it show all of the necessary intermediate calculations. It’s times like these when you get to make programming for for you rather than be forces to do it.

Maybe it should have been a given, but ultimate today was cold. In fact, not only was it cold bit it was windy also. Cold + windy = even colder. Surprisingly, most people were still wearing normal ultimate clothes to start off. By the end, many had seen the light and added at least a jacket.
The play was a typical Classic Series (no one really understood what was going on), but almost no one aside from me even recognized when the play was over. I’m pretty sure that when the main character dies, the sound effects stop, and the house lights come up, it’s a safe bet that the play is over. There was then an unscheduled detour to Orange Cup in Preston Center, but now I’m at the last place ok my list which would me Andrew’s. Overall, a much better day than if I had spent the whole thing doing HW.

After the past 3 weeks, it wouldn’t necessarily be seen as a surprise if tonight game were to be close or if we were even to be eliminated. In fact, McKinney had scored 37 points by the end of the game. Fortunately, we had more; 32 more to be exact. With a 69-37 win, we definitely had the margin of victory that we’re comfortable and familiar with.
After having just arrived back from Seattle, you’d think that I’d be resting tomorrow and try to catch up on some of the HW that I missed. Not in the slightest. Tomorrow I have an ultimate frisbee game (which is going to end up being quite cold), then probably eating with some of the people I’m playing with, going to see the HP play, and the finally going to Andrew’s birthday party. So yeah, lots of stuff going on tomorrow afternoon for me. Homework? Again, that’s what Sunday is for. :)

Seattle, 9:20 PM: Oh man, this post is going to be full of epicness. In fact, it is going to have twice the epicness that I thought it would earlier in the day. Tonight our story begins with a person just wanting some dinner…

Seattle, 8:35 PM: Yes, my destination is Seattle! Ah, but why, you ask? Well, now I really know who my stalkers are, and you have to wait until tomorrow to figure that one out. Tomorrow will actually be my only other Seattle post before I return back to Dallas. Do I have you intrigued yet?
So let’s see…my day consisted of a 4 hour flight, checking into the hotel, and then going down to the hotel restaurant that takes advantage of it raining so much here and being way too fancy for its own good. Don’t get me wrong, my steak and fries were good, but I would have been just as content with a normal hamburger. That’s one of the things I miss about Vegas hotels: you have your nice restaurants, but then you also have your average people, normal food restaurants around also.

On my last day of school this week, I had a presentation to give in my education class as if it were my “first day of school”. I ended up getting a 95, with points only deducted for my appearance: wearing tennis shoes and not having a tie on. I think an exchange rate of 5 points to being able to do those two things is very fair. So fair, that I’d in fact do it again.
So, what’s this about packing? Well, that category I mentioned last week is not some super 3D holographic blog technology that I’ll make even fewer posts in than my existing vlog one, but it is in fact a trip that I’m going on. Ahhh…the mystery deepens. Well, not really. If you’re a FB friend or know anything in general about my life, you already know where I’m going. If you’re not, then you’re a stalker, and I think you can afford to be in the dark one day longer.
