So, one thing had always been bothering me about this theme. Namely, I can look back at posts I’ve made recently and tell you with reasonable certaintly (if only by counting) what day of the week they were made on, but good luck if I was ever going to do that with the archive pages. No, I don’t want to hear about your awesome trick for being able to calculate it based on the month, year, and whether or not a solar eclipse was happening. My solution was just to go into the template file, figure out where the date was being generated from, and adjust it as necessary. So simple, even a caveman majoring in computer science with knowledge of PHP could do it.
While we’re on the topic of the archives here, I’ve noticed that a lot of my jokes don’t “age” well. Specifically, I’ll write things that seem extremely witty or clever at the time, but then when I go back to look at them, I wonder what I was on when I chose to write that. Take for example how I ended that paragraph above. As I thought of it, my mind was all like “Genius!!” Two months from now, my mind will be saying “WTF was I thinking when I wrote that??”

As my parents have pointed out to me, my grades aren’t that important anymore as long as I do well enough to pass and graduate (seeing as how that’s just a small requirement for going to work for Microsoft). I, on the other hand, still feel it necessary to get straight As and not let me GPA needlessly suffer more than it has by my B+ and 2 A- grades. I can’t get a 4.0 and As still only raise my GPA in the range of thousandths, but I don’t don’t even want to figure out what a non-4.0 would do to my 3.96.
I just have one homework assignment left to turn in (a week from Monday), and then I’m done save for my last tests/projects in everything. I haven’t actually calculated the exact amount of time I get off, but it’s somewhere in the range of a month. A little over if you ignore the fact I have two exams on exam week, but regardless still shifted a week or two later due to the genius UTD calendar planners.

No more HP football for me. After a 36-41 loss (why can’t be ever be playing someplace close when we lose?) in Corsicana, I can finally stop being a football trainer after 5 seasons. I still have one more baseball season to go (the count there is slightly weird, but at least my 3rd), and than that should put a wrap on all of my athletic training activities.
Time Warner came to make the cable outlet in the room with our server work, so I’ll get the wonderful task of getting streaming TV working once again for my dad sometime tomorrow. Hopefully it will be a very easy process and won’t be too hard, but I’ve learned to never get my hopes up too much. Actually, now that I think about it, there hasn’t been much trouble with our network recently. Calm before the storm? Hopefully it’s just because everything wants to work for once.

Just as with so many previous Thanksgivings, my day consisted of very little aside from going over to my aunt’s house for lunch. Also, just as the same as the past three Thanksgivings, HP plays the day after and interrupts my otherwise lazy break. Two of the past three years we’ve been playing at Texas Stadium, and then two years ago we had the infamous trip to Louisiana. Tomorrow’s game in Corsicana will probably feel more like the latter even though it’s a shorter trip just because of the fact that it will basically take up my full day.
In preparation for waking up early tomorrow, I’m making this post now and will be going to sleep quite soon. I’ve been wanting to sleep for about the past hour or two, but I’ve prevented myself from doing so, knowing that it would not be beneficial for my sleeping tonight. Stupid turkeys…why must you have tryptophan?

After a boring, relatively worthless class tonight, I was finally officially able to have my Thanksgiving break start. Now, I get tomorrow “off” (in quotes because of family stuff to do) and Friday is arguably my vacation day (Corsicana, yippee!). After that, it might as well just be a typical weekend for me. Oh yeah, awesome break I’m going to have.
One more thing to note about my quickly diminishing break is that I now get to wake up about an hour earlier on Friday morning. Rather than leaving at 8:30 as originally planned, that’s been moved back to 7:30 in order to accomodate the football team leaving earlier. In fact, we’re going down to Corscana so early, that we’re stopping at some place for a breakfast buffet. Seriously? Let us eat breakfast (or in my case, not) in the comfort of our own homes and let us sleep in a while longer.

So, I’ll give some free Whose Line points to the first person that can name the thing I forgot to include in my post yesterday. What’s that? Correct!! For those of you who didn’t hear the invisible person that gave the correct answer, it’s my Quantum of Solace movie review. My only explanation for why I forgot would have to be just because it just wasn’t as good as I was hoping.
I had heard some people complaining about the new movie, but I just figured that they were the people who have to complain about every movie. That might still be the case, but I just might have to add myself to the group of people not entirely satisfied. There were definitely Bond elements present all throughout the movie, but it never “felt” like it was supposed to be a Bond movie. Starting off with the almost not present “firing the gun at the screen” sequence and going to the completely not present “The name’s Bond, James Bond” line, it felt like it would be a decent spy/action movie, but the Bond switch just never got flipped for me. So really, it just comes across as a decent Bond, probably ranked 5th of 6 on my personal rating list (starting with Goldeneye). My score: 8/10.

In my multi-year quest to get my movies and TV show DVDs onto our file server to watch, I’ve attempted to use many different programs. One that I used in the past was Handbrake, and I wasn’t really all that impressed by the quality. However, now that I’m backing up into H.264 rather than Xvid and Handbrake just released a new version with a very good H.264 encoder, it looks like it will be my program of choice. Even better, it allows for batch encoding, so I can set up a whole disc (or season) to encode while I’m going to be gone for a while and return to shiny files all ready to watch. The MPAA might not like it, but at least I’m buying their DVDs rather than just relying on my torrents for everything.
Andrew (and I to a certain extent) are (re)addicted to TDs in Warcraft 3. A form of emergent gameplay if there ever was one, TDs really show what a vibrant mod community can do with a game. Sure, it’s distracting me from WoW and BK, but I can’t only ever play those for the rest of my life. With W3 in there, I’m set to go forever though.

Let’s see, nothing due tomorrow, but that’s really my only day like that. Tuesday I have a test and an assignment due (although I get to push the assignment back until Thursday night without penalty), Wednesday I have my next to last version of my game document due, and then Friday is of course the game. This is Thanksgiving week, I shouldn’t have nearly as much to do. Why bother having a holiday at all if there’s no rest with which to enjoy it?
With all that said, I’ll be spending tomorrow preparing another movie review. With many out to choose from, the one I’m going to see is Quantum of Solace. I expect that I’ll like it and will give it a favorable score, so in a way I guess I’m pre-reviewing it. That could also be a first for me, but there’s no way I’m going back to check. We’ll just say that it is and move on with that very unimportant fact of knowledge now set.

Come on, 20 degrees warmer tonight over last night? That’s so not cool (pun not originally intended, but I like it).I still didn’t go to the ultimate game since I went to dinner at Benihana, but the fact that it was actually a somewhat comfortable temperature to play made it slightly annoying that I wasn’t there.
My expectation of what I was going to end up doing today was fairly accurate. Lots of gaming, no homework, and nothing else big. I got a phone call informing me of the game plan for this next week, but that was about it. We play on Friday in Corsicana at 2:00, so that means that I need to be at the stadium at 8:00 in the morning. Pretty sure I’m not going to have much free time on Friday…

A win is a win
No matter the score
Some can be by fifty
Others only by four
If I had more time I could make up more of my poem, but the point gets across. We won tonight, but it wasn’t exactly a beautiful one. The final score was 24-7, and that was us playing against a 6-5 team. Tonight should have been one of those explosive 60+ point games, but six turnovers don’t really help your score all that much.
To my knowledge, I have no plans for tomorrow. There’s supposed to be a glow in the dark ultimate game going on tomorrow night, but considering that it’s going to be freezing cold outside, I’m thinking that I’ll pass. The remainder of my day should be typical: procrastinating homework and playing games.
