The (Quite Literally) Longest Saturday of My Life

June 21st, 2008

I woke up “this morning” in Japan, it was Saturday. I got on my flight to DFW, it was Saturday. I fell asleep on the plane, it was Saturday. I landed in DFW, it was Saturday. Right now, it’s still Saturday. If you ignore the time zone changes that I flew through and just stick with the easy math, Saturday, June 21st has lasted about 38 hours for me. I think it’s safe to say that today has been one of the longest days of my life.

I’m actually about to go to sleep (which is a very good thing) since I only got about 3 or so hours of sleep on the plane, so I’m already pretty tired. Remember that my body is expecting it to be 1:30 tomorrow afternoon right now, so had I gotten a longer sleep on the plane, I’d be awake until who knows when tomorrow morning. Fortunately this gives me all the time I need tomorrow afternoon (and Monday) to start catching up on my SE work.

Welcome back! I enjoyed reading about the trip, especially the food!
