After doing virtually nothing else besides playing WoW this afternoon, I finally hit 70 with my main character! So, now that I’ve accomplished this feat, there are a couple things for me to do. On this character my main focus will be getting geared for raiding (since I’m not a big PvPer), but then I also plan on creating more than a few alts on this server so that I can play different classes and work on other professions. Just because I hit 70 doesn’t mean that WoW will take up less of my time now; on the contrary, it has the great potential of taking up even more.
Today starts my only week with absolutely nothing UTD related on my schedule. Last Monday I had an exam, and next Friday the Japan class starts. So, while basically this amounts to a three week break, looking at it calendar week wise, it can be seen as only one. Better enjoy my time off while I have it, right?

Going into the 7th inning of Game 2, we were down 3-5, and it was looking like we were going to be playing a third game. Well, we got one run, making it 4-5. That was good; then we got another run to make it 5-5 and at least have a chance of it going into extra innings. Not content with that though, we proceeded to score another 6 runs to make it (and ultimately win) 11-5. Next week we play Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (if needed) at Rockwall Heath against McKinney North.
At the present time, I’m about to do my first WoW raid. No, not Kara; some of the people in my guild wanted to organize a “fun” MC run, and since that’s one of the raids from the original game, I happen to be geared for it just fine. That’s the primary reason this post isn’t being made an hour from now; at 11:55, I have no clue what my posting situation will look like.

Well, maybe to Abilene, but it can’t have been much longer than this trip to Texarkana. It must have taken a good 4 hours to make a typically 3 hour trip, and it felt like a 4 hour trip also. We finally got to the hotel though, and we’re eating breakfast at 9:30.
The manager could have brought his 360 and played it online due to free internet here at the hotel, but he decided not to bring it. By that same logic, I could have my laptop and I wouldn’t be making this post from my phone. Oh well, that’s what contingency plans are for, right?

Tonight we “won” Game “One” by “one” run, 4-3. After being briefed of the schedule tomorrow, I am aware that the team is having a dinner at 5:30 at Qdoba, and the bus leaves for Texarkana at 6:30. These significant bits of information allow me to plan my day tomorrow, and I can all but guarantee that I will be coming home around lunch time (as I usually do) and then heading back to HP later on in the day. Now that we only need to win one of the two games on Saturday, as long as Texarkana doesn’t pull on us what we did to Frisco, we should be fine.
Iron Man is, in a word, awesome. The movie has the right amount of humor, action, and correctly spaced downtime to never make it dull or overwhelming. Definitely an addition to my DVD collection, and I wouldn’t be entirely opposed to going to see it again in the theater in one of my friends wanted to go who hadn’t seen it. My score: 9/10.

Apparently my dad was not aware of the size of a laser printer, so we won’t be going that route in his study at the present time. I’m not sure exactly how big he figured one was going to be, but I wasn’t at all surprised at the size of the printer. There are some decently small laser printers without the scan/copy/fax functions, but since the whole point of getting one was because he wanted it to have those, there’s wouldn’t be too much logic in going the smaller route.
Tomorrow I’m going to see Iron Man, then I’m going over to my grandparents’ house to work with my grandfather’s new camera, and then I’m going to HP for our first game against Texarkana. It probably wouldn’t be time beneficial for me to go home in between leaving my grandparents’ house and needing to be up at HP, so I likely won’t be back to my house until after the game tomorrow night. Friday, however, I probably will come home in between finishing up in the morning and needing to be back at the stadium around 5:00 or 6:00 since not doing so would mean that I’d need to find a whole lot of stuff to do to keep me entertained.

I finally hit 68 in WoW this afternoon, so as a result I was able to start the quest chain to get the key in order to be able to enter the “first” level 70 raid, Karazhan (a process known as “attunement”). The first couple parts were easy, but now I need to run a couple instances to get keys, key fragments, and lots of other things that take up both time and require help from others. Since Kara isn’t something I could do as soon as I hit 70 anyway, I may just put all of that off until I’m done leveling and have some better equipment. After tomorrow though, my WoW time will be put on hold for the most part until Sunday (possibly a little bit Thursday and Saturday night depending on when I get back to my house from the games and how tired I am).
Staples has a Samsung color AIO laser printer for $300 after rebate, so I’m going by one tomorrow to buy one for my dad’s study. The fact that it uses toner rather than ink will drastically help with the problem we have of his printer always seeming to have the ink dry up before he uses even a fraction of it, and it’s an actual network printer, so he won’t have to try to jump through a bunch of weird hoops to scan something to his computer. Call me crazy, but I see setting that up and teaching him how to use it cutting into my WoW time tomorrow night.

Going into my Linear Algebra exam today, all I had to score was an 80 or better to maintain my A in there. Actually, I needed a 160 or better, but since the exam was out of 200 points, it’s basically the same thing. When I got done and looked back through everything, there were maybe 20 points that I was unsure of, and getting some of those plus 6 bonus points means that I’ll be absolutely stunned if I don’t have an A in that class on my transcript. I have no more math classes to take at UTD, so my days of that are finally over.
Andrew has been helping we with some quests in WoW for the past couple hours, and right now was finally a good resting time. I’m almost at 68 which will let me start the attunement quest for the first raid dungeon, but I still have some leveling and gearing to do before I can actually start to run it. If I recall correctly I previously said that I had no interest in endgame raiding, but given the alternative of PvP, I think I’ll stick with fighting the AI.
Also, I learned this morning that apparently instead of driving to Texarkana on Saturday morning, we’ll be going up Friday afternoon and spending the night there (kinda like we did in Tyler last year, although we actually had a Friday game then). Seeing as how I had no other plans for Friday that didn’t really cause any problems with my schedule, so just expect a modified posting schedule on Thursday and Friday most likely so that I can just avoid needing to make a phone post.

Tomorrow, 2:00, Linear Algebra exam. After that, I’m free!! Well, free in the sense that I won’t have any school until the 23rd, free in the sense that until said time I generally get to decide what my schedule for each day will be like, and free in the sense that I’m going to go buy a couple games that I probably don’t need to, especially since after buying said games, I’m most likely just going to play WoW some more tomorrow night (and possibly hit 68!).
One of my objectives for this week isto get a couple more videos on my Zune, but seeing as how we’ll probably be watching DVDs for a significant amount of the bus time, chances are I won’t need that many (unless the DVDs just really, really suck). I’ll probably take a couple like normal, and since it’s a 3 hour bus ride, I don’t have to be quite as conscious about the length of them.

We started off last night looking like we were going to have a shutout win before the meltdown happened. In the first game today, it started off very similar. We jumped out to a lead, they scored no runs. Fortunately there was no case of deja vu, and we went onto win that game 10-0. Ok, series tied 1-1, time for Game 3. That game started off a little slower with no runs being scored in the first two innings. We then got 1 run, then 2 runs, then another run, and we managed to have 8 by the time the game was over. Frisco once again couldn’t keep pace, so with an 8-0 victory, we move onto the next round to face Texarkana.
The Texarkana coaches were at the game, so as we were leaving to go back to the bus, their coaches and our coaches were sitting down to discuss what the situation for this next week was going to. Well, we waited… and waited… and waited… and waited yet some more. Finally, after 40 minutes of sitting on the bus, they finished discussing whatever and decided on our schedule. Thursday we play at HP at 7:30 (like usual), and then on Saturday we play at Texarkana at 1:00. That means a very early bus ride Saturday morning, but I have nothing else to do with my time. Well, fine, I have other things that I could do but nothing that has to be done.

How a 6-0 lead after 4 innings turns into a 6-9 loss I’m still not entirely sure, but yeah, we lost tonight. So, this means that Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) will be played at Frisco tomorrow starting at 12:00. Being down 1 game doesn’t mean all that much as long as we play well tomorrow, so at this point, I’m not too worried. Ask me again tomorrow 6 innings into the first game and we’ll check if that feeling still exists.
I got an email today saying that my grade in OS is an A for the semester, so really the only grade I have left to be worried about is the game project class (and Linear Algebra if I feel like I bomb the final on Monday). Anything but straight As most likely will drop my GPA, but that’s the price I pay for having a 3.948. Granted, I’d much rather have the GPA I do than a lower one where I could make a B or two and still have my GPA go up.
