The Scenic Route Through Downtown Dallas

April 25th, 2008

While I was up at HP this morning, I heard on the morning announcements that the baseball game had been moved back to Heath since Pearce’s field was apparently too wet to play on. Well, that didn’t cause any problems with my schedule for the day, so I showed up about 3:45 at the high school and basically twiddled my thumbs until we got around to leaving at 5:20. The new route we’ve been taking this year to pretty much every school except Pearce is hopping on the Tollway then taking this weird shortcut through downtown to the I-30 HOV lane. The downtown portion normally takes on the order of 10 minutes or so.

This bus driver apparently either a) wasn’t aware of the “quick” shortcut, or b) felt like taking a nice, scenic drive through downtown. I saw parts of downtown I had no idea even existed, and it took us 30 minutes just to get to I-30. We weren’t really late getting to Heath, but we were later than the coaches had anticipated us being. Regardless, we put the smackdown on Forney 14-1 and showed them who was more deserving of the 2nd seed. Our first playoff round will either be against Frisco or Frisco Centennial, and I figure that I’ll probably get some more info on it at the banquet Monday night (if not earlier). Now if only Poteet could somehow get eliminated from the playoffs before they’d be facing us again…
