I really, really, really want to get Tabula Rasa. Ok, I impulse buy some games, so why not go ahead and get this one? The problem is, it’s an MMO. With the exception of Guild Wars, MMOs have monthly fees associated with them (typically in the $15/month ballpark). I balanced this with FFXI and WoW by just swapping around active accounts whenever I got bored with one of them. I could do the same thing here, but I don’t even know if I’m going to like the game. I want to like it (just like I want to like Spore, EA, if you’ll ever release it), and in the next week or two I may be able to go ahead and talk myself into getting this one. After all, many other games I spend $50/$60 on and never play again after a month, so if I don’t like the game after the free trial is up, no problem to not continue playing, right??
Oh yeah, and my count I had going on last week? Make that 1 for 11 as I’m staying at home tonight. The water is going to be off in the whole building my apartment is in tomorrow from 9:00 until 6:00, and I really didn’t feel like being there all morning with no water available. Luckily I have an alternative option which I wouldn’t if I was going to school somewhere not so conveniently close to home.

Rather than doing my Data Structures HW this afternoon like I should have been doing (even though it isn’t due until Wednesday), I instead chose to play some WoW. I didn’t really get all that much accomplished, begging the question why I was playing it, but I was. I’ll probably be playing it some more tomorrow morning, but I’m not sure if I wake up at 8:00 or so whether or not I’ll actually get out of bed for the sole purpose of having more time to play it. I’m very slowly making progress on getting a character up to the level cap (my highest is at 35 currently). Hopefully with Blizzard’s infamous delayed releases, I can make progress towards the cap faster than they are able to produce expansions and increase it.
I’ve yet to add anything to my week since last night, so maybe my schedule will stay relatively stable. On Thursday I have my first two tests, but that’s really it as far as big school things go for this week. Everything else is in the evenings keeping me away from my computer and my precious Bioshock. It’s all a plan, I tell you! A plan to keep me away!!

When I was using one of our older computers as our HTPC, I cannibalized the video card out of this computer since it had a DVI port (and I wasn’t using it over the summer). I went to Fry’s and picked up a $50 card to use as a replacement because I knew that the integrated graphics probably wouldn’t cut it for my games.
Jump ahead to a couple weeks ago. Bioshock wouldn’t run, but I wasn’t terribly surprised. I played some GW and WoW last weekend though, and the framerates I was getting were horrible (around 20 at full screen, closer to 30 is I ran in windowed mode). Hmmm… that’s strange, I never had a problem running WoW at least on this computer before. Today I decided to swap the original video card back into this computer, and my FPS in WoW jumped up to around 50. Much better. No wonder Bioshock freaked out; if a computer can’t even run WoW, no way I’d expect it to be able to handle the awesomeness of newer games.
Coach Gibbins made me up a trainer schedule for the first time since I graduated with the football games (and times) that Iwill be working this fall. There are basically going to be 6, possibly 7, games where I don’t go to HP first but instead head either directly to a restaurant or the stadium that we’re playing at. That ends up being about half since typically the Thursday game will always be one where I don’t go to HP first, but on Fridays I will go with the rest of the trainers because of my class schedule.

Unless my memory deceives me, this was the closest game HP has had in a while (dare I say back to the Stephenville playoff game?). At risk was our undefeated at home streak since Coach Allen has been the head coach to a team that gave us a little bit of trouble towards the start of the game when we played them last year. We won 31-26 not by our defense but instead by a couple mistakes that they made on onside kickoffs. Nice win that doesn’t mean much (not district), but we almost definitely have to improve in the next couple weeks to hope at any significant playoff run.
For the 3rd or 4th weekend in a row now I have no plans for tomorrow, but I’m more excited by the fact that tomorrow is Saturday. My mind was thinking that today has been Saturday for most of the day because yesterday I had a football game and today I had no classes (making yesterday Friday). Two more days of weekend, not a ton of HW to do, and plenty of stuff to theoretically keep me entertained. I can manage.

After I got home from the game tonight (which we won 25-6), I decided that it would probably be a good time to go ahead and make the reservations for KA, the Cirque du Soleil show at the MGM Grand. Well, the online form wasn’t offering that great of seat choices, so we went ahead and called them. After getting seats, they wanted to know if we’d like to book anything else. The MGM Grand has an entertainer lounge but didn’t have the schedule up online yet for December; they did, however, have that schedule in their computer. So, we booked another show for the next night when we’ll be seeing David Copperfield. We’ve tentatively decided on a show for the remaining night as of now (Spamalot), but we haven’t booked the tickets yet so that could theoretically change.
My schedule for tomorrow has me making two round trips between my house and HP. I initially have to be at HP around 1:30 or 2:00 to sign a contract for some work I did with them over the summer setting up online courses. At 3:00 I need to be at UTD for a meeting about an organization that I still don’t really understand the purpose of. Then, I have to be back at HP at 6:00 to get ready for our football game at 7:30. Bye-bye afternoon of a Friday of which I have the morning off!!

Tomorrow I’m meeting Coach Harris at a Steak & Shake in Frisco before working the JV game later that night, and then Friday I have the game at HP. Yes, the weeks in which I have two games have apparently returned, and while it doesn’t seem like it’ll be an every week occurrence, it will probably happen more than it did last year. I haven’t really decided if I like having one this week or not. On one hand, I have no classes Friday so that would be time that I could be at home watching TV or playing non-Bioshock games. On the other hand though, the game is in Frisco, so I’ll just head straight home once it’s over.
All of my homework has successfully been completed for a couple of hours now, so I’m HW free until next Wednesday. Well, it’d be more accurate to say until this weekend as I don’t plan on waiting until the last minute to do that HW. Then there’s the studying for my two tests the following day, so I think next week should definitely be able to keep me unbored. Any bet takers for which day I’ll end up contradicting that??

I’d just like to say that, for the record, I wasn’t even contemplating trying to stay at home tonight. It becomes 10:00, I’m about ready to leave, and my mom yells up that since it’s raining, I can spend the night here if I want. I didn’t even know that it was raining, but it should be obvious what I chose to do.
What basically amounts to a 3 day school week for me is already 1/3 over. Next week I have two tests, so it’s not going to be quite as relaxing as this one. I don’t have any classes this semester that I feel super comfortable about in the context of tests, but I also don’t see myself flipping out over any of them either.
Going back and reading some of my older blog posts (from my Blogger days) stunned me with how many typo and grammar errors there were. Typically I try to be pretty good about spelling everything correctly, but some of these posts were so horrendous that I actually had to re-read parts of them just so that I could understand what I was trying to say. Luckily Firefox now has a built in spell checker so I can catch many of them while I’m typing out the posts, but I’m not immune from them even now.

In the 10 day timespan from this past Friday until next Sunday, I’m only actually going to be spending two nights out at UTD. Tomorrow and Wednesday nights are the only ones I’ll spend out in my apartment because Friday morning my education class does not meet. This basically equates to two things: 1) I get to spend a lot of time at home which I like, but 2) The more time I spend at home means the less time I have to play Bioshock.
After being “kicked out” of SMU’s stadium for our game on Saturday, SMU proceeded to get killed today by Texas Tech. If we had played there, they probably would have used some excuse along the lines of them not being able to practice enough, but they have no defense like that now. So, SMU, if you can’t win football games even when you do get the chance to practice, will you actually let us play there in the future? Thanks.

While it might have been a very short (and arguably one of the most worthless) post yesterday, it was absolutely necessary since we started our game 30 minutes late, and I didn’t get home until just after midnight. The activity I was doing right before I left completed successfully, and we won the game 35-13, so yesterday definitely had an overall net positive ending. At least nine games remain for us this season, but hopefully that number will be as high as 15 or 16.
I actually did some homework today (including all that is due Tuesday), so hopefully tomorrow I can find the dedication to finish up everything so that I won’t have any homework to do for the rest of the week. I like no homework days since it means for Bioshock for me. Speaking of, since I can’t play that here at my house, I think I’m going to go take my shower and then play some Prime 2. Fun in a different way, but still fun.

I was busy researching our trip to Australia earlier, so that’s why I didn’t make a post then. I’m up at HP right now and we’re planning to load the van, so this will be one of those “one paragraph” posts. Quick when they need to be, longer when they don’t!!!
