Who Says Size Doesn’t Matter?
The reason I don’t have a PS3 yet (or really any of the newest-gen systems) is because there aren’t any absolutely “must have” games out yet for any of them. Twilight Princess would have been one for the Wii, but since it came out on Gamecube also, I was able to play it anyway. The Wii will of course have Mario and at least one additional Zelda game, the Xbox 360 has a few games coming out this year that will push me over the edge to get one, but the PS3 I just will not get until the price drops to $400. The only two games I feel I have to play which are currently PS3 exclusives are MGS4 and Final Fantasy XIII. Luckily, neither of those will be out for a while, so I’m in no rush to want one.
That said, there are some other PS3 games coming out which are very enticing and I’d definitely pick up once I get one. During the PS2’s lifetime, there were three major action/platform series that came out: Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, and Ratchet & Clank. The latter of these is the only one with games still in active development (that I’m aware of), and instead of using a numbering system for the sequels, the developers relied solely on subtitles. Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal were the two “main” sequels (Deadlocked was a more multiplayer oriented title), and the newest release stays with the subtitle theme in Size Matters. Appropriately, it’s the first one to be released on the PSP (hence the “size” reference), and while the controls are a little strange, it’s just as fun as all the other Ratchet games have been. I don’t think the PS3 Ratchet would be a system seller for me, but it definitely is on my purchase list for when I do get one.
