The Strangest Marketing Ever
All the previews for Bridge to Terabithia made it look like a Narnia clone: kids in a fantasy world, gigantic CG creatures and scenery, etc. I guess that’s a good way to capture that target demographic, but that was no where close to being the main point/focus of the movie. Apparently the advertising did its job though because that’s why I went to go see it, but I definitely didn’t regret going after seeing the movie itself. The best comparison I can make is to Pay it Forward; it isn’t a “feel good” movie, but the message in it is very powerful. Yeah, it was targeted towards kids (which is kinda strange, but it is an adaptation of a book for kids), but so are a lot of the movies I go to see. It’s basically a story about life, and a very good one at that. My score: 8.5/10.
