That One I Missed

February 28th, 2007

I won’t even try and come up with an extremely unique yet believable story about why I didn’t post yesterday because I just plain forgot. It wasn’t even the “I just turned off my computer and then remembered” type of realization I had that I didn’t post, but I was in bed trying to fall asleep. I forgot, bad me, but I’m posting now.

All of 3 classes left until Spring Break starts for me (2 tomorrow, 1 Friday), but I have UTD Baseball games Friday and Saturday. I also could have sworn that the Friday game started at 12, but the schedule claims 2 so I get some time to actually eat (always nice). After Saturday though, let the holiday begin!!

Skipped on Purpose

February 26th, 2007

Rather than making another post about how boring my life is and how nothing exciting happened, I opted to just skip posting yesterday. Yes, it broke my streak, but I wasn’t close to a new record anyway. So starts a new one.

I also don’t really have anything to say about today, but I didn’t want to risk falling into my old habits updating once every two weeks. I did have to run back to HP this afternoon/evening to fix someone’s internet, but aside from that my life was pretty normal today. I have to read a book for tomorrow that I haven’t finished, so that’s my goal after posting this, and I think that completes my homework due for this week. Hey, I’m not complaining.

The Strangest Marketing Ever

February 24th, 2007

All the previews for Bridge to Terabithia made it look like a Narnia clone: kids in a fantasy world, gigantic CG creatures and scenery, etc. I guess that’s a good way to capture that target demographic, but that was no where close to being the main point/focus of the movie. Apparently the advertising did its job though because that’s why I went to go see it, but I definitely didn’t regret going after seeing the movie itself. The best comparison I can make is to Pay it Forward; it isn’t a “feel good” movie, but the message in it is very powerful. Yeah, it was targeted towards kids (which is kinda strange, but it is an adaptation of a book for kids), but so are a lot of the movies I go to see. It’s basically a story about life, and a very good one at that. My score: 8.5/10.

The Heretic Episode 2

February 23rd, 2007

The second episode of The Heretic was released today (and yes, I’ll probably be making posts like this every other week), and if you haven’t seen it, go now!! I knew better beforehand where this episode was going because a lot of the best bloopers we had came from trying to film the main part of this episode. I’m pretty sure there is some type of plan to release all of our screw-ups as a video (probably only to sponsors, but as C&C, all of us get access to those also  :) ), but that probably won’t come until the end of the series.

I’m going to play some more Size Matters tonight after finishing up this post and hopefully beat it sometime this weekend. As I’ve repeated over and over, I just have to many games to work through, so I can’t spend an excessive amount of time on any given one. Sad, but true.

If You Can’t Think of Anything to Post…

February 22nd, 2007

Make an absolute worthless one with no substance? No grades back today, nothing all that exciting in my game class (although we did play a tabletop RPG-ish game to illustrate the whole culture difference issue), so basically it was a pretty boring day. The only really interesting things that I did were play some Warcraft 3 and Size Matters. When that’s the highlight of a day…yeah.

Already Close to a Break

February 21st, 2007

For the next 7 days of school, the most “stressful” thing I have to go is work two baseball games next week. No more tests, nothing due until after Spring Break…it honestly feels like the period where after exams are over and you just have to show up to school. Why? Not really all that sure, as I have plenty to occupy myself with (2 tests immediately after Spring Break and a paper due about a month from now), but for now, I’m just relaxed. Really kinda nice.

This weekend I’m probably going to see Bridge to Terabithia, and my grandmother is apparently coming in tomorrow to stay through (at least) Sunday. Friday will be the first “extended” (more than 3 hours) time I’ve spent at the office, so considering the progress I’ve been making on my tasks, I’d think Friday would be pretty productive. There, my future. Good? Good.

Who Says Size Doesn’t Matter?

February 20th, 2007

The reason I don’t have a PS3 yet (or really any of the newest-gen systems) is because there aren’t any absolutely “must have” games out yet for any of them. Twilight Princess would have been one for the Wii, but since it came out on Gamecube also, I was able to play it anyway. The Wii will of course have Mario and at least one additional Zelda game, the Xbox 360 has a few games coming out this year that will push me over the edge to get one, but the PS3 I just will not get until the price drops to $400. The only two games I feel I have to play which are currently PS3 exclusives are MGS4 and Final Fantasy XIII. Luckily, neither of those will be out for a while, so I’m in no rush to want one.

That said, there are some other PS3 games coming out which are very enticing and I’d definitely pick up once I get one. During the PS2′s lifetime, there were three major action/platform series that came out: Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, and Ratchet & Clank. The latter of these is the only one with games still in active development (that I’m aware of), and instead of using a numbering system for the sequels, the developers relied solely on subtitles. Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal were the two “main” sequels (Deadlocked was a more multiplayer oriented title), and the newest release stays with the subtitle theme in Size Matters. Appropriately, it’s the first one to be released on the PSP (hence the “size” reference), and while the controls are a little strange, it’s just as fun as all the other Ratchet games have been. I don’t think the PS3 Ratchet would be a system seller for me, but it definitely is on my purchase list for when I do get one.

Thinking About Not Forgetting Usually Results in Forgetting

February 19th, 2007

This morning at around 9:00 I thought to myself that I needed to make sure not to forget to set up the two VCRs to tape Prison Break and 24 tonight. Considering the title of this post (and/or preexisting knowledge of me), it shouldn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that I did indeed forget. I actually thought about it as I was walking out the door to go to school but just decided to deal with it this evening rather than run back into the house and get everything set up. So goes my life.

Less than 2 weeks until Spring Break for me, and then only about 6 weeks of school after that. We don’t have plans to go anywhere since once again mine does not match up with my mom’s (or anyone else’s for that matter), so I’ll most likely be attending a couple of HP baseball games. Of course, playing games will also be taking place, but it is an activity that doesn’t really need to be stated.

Gung Hay Fat Choy!

February 18th, 2007

Yes, I’ve been watching way too much Disney Channel recently. Ironically, I didn’t watch it at all today, but I saved a draft last night just so I’d remember to use this title today. My day was filled with church, lunch, TV, shopping, and homework but no baseball. Even though UTD won (I checked on the website), it went to 10 innings which made me glad I wasn’t there.

Most likely I’ll be taking my PSP out to UTD this week and playing Size Matters in my spare time. This is one of those series that rank high enough on my list thatI’ll go ahead and start them alongside all the other games I have in progress. Which actually reminds me, I still have to finish March of the Minis on DS. Too many games, too little time. I know it wouldn’t kill me to stop preordering stuff (and I have gotten a lot better in the past few years), but the occasional game always comes along that if you don’t preorder, it becomes near impossible to find.

Oh yeah, and Happy Chinese New Year!

The Staple Food of My Training Career

February 17th, 2007

Well, my prediction about today was right: not unbearably cold, but enough to be moderately annoying all day. One of the many foods I had which collectively made up my lunch was something that has been of central importance to my sustenance throughout my entire athletic training career. This food is so universal that it is at almost every concession stand, regardless of stadium or field. This food, of course, would be the great combination of chips and cheese: Nachos.

I’m not worrying about the game on Sunday, so that means my life is baseball-free until a week from this upcoming Tuesday. “Baseball-free” has such a negative connotation to it, but until the weather gets warmer, I’d much rather be inside with a TV or computer. Oh yeah, and if anyone cares, we split the games today. The first one we lost 6-16 (after being up 6-3 and only needing 1 out to end the game), but the second we won 14-8.
