Between now and Friday I have…studying for one test and an event paper to write. No game Thursday night, and the paper I can write tomorrow while babysitting, so this means that the rest of my week is relatively non-eventful (for once).
Burning Crusade (the upcoming WoW expansion) has been delayed to January (Blizzard pulled a Blizzard, who would have guessed), so that means that over December I’ll get a chance to catch up on some FFXI playing along with continuing my progress on console games. I see my big goals between now and the end of the year being Okami, actually finishing FFX and Kingdom Hearts, FFXII, Kingdom Hearts 2, and the 4 .hack games (3 from the original series + the new one). Is this likely to happen? No way, but it’s a nice goal to aim for. Realize that in there also will be Twilight Princess once I get a Wii, but hopefully I’ll be so addicted to it that it’ll get finished in a couple of sittings.

Yes, I know I didn’t make a post Saturday. Yes, I know I didn’t make a post yesterday. Yes, I know that I’m making a post right now. See, I know, so don’t say a word…
You say that you want to know what I’ve been up to that has kept me from making these wonderful posts? I shall tell you then! Babysitting Saturday night, reading a book from when I started babysitting into Sunday morning, playing Okami so I wouldn’t go 2 weekends in a row with no game progress, a physics take home test due tomorrow, government reading that was due today, and of course the obligatory watching television. This is what I meant when I called this past weekend “the weekend of no rest”. Now I get to start creating my note sheets for a Discrete Math test tomorrow, and then tomorrow I get to do my Physics pre-lab, and Wednesday I get to babysit again and write two event papers, and Thursday…

59-19. HP has this “thing” with scoring 59 points in a game. It’s not quite 60, but it’s also a score we seem to get over and over and over. Not that I’m complaining, mind you, but it does make you wonder what the magic is behind it…
Tomorrow I have another event to go to at UTD at 2:00, and then tomorrow night I’m babysitting for our ex-neighbors at 7:00. Remember that week of no rest I had not all that long ago? Well, this would be the weekend of no rest for me.

Typically when I say it took me 4 or 5 hours to finish a homework assignment, that involves numerous breaks because I get bored doing whatever the assignment is. I wish I would say that about my physics homework, but unfortunately I can’t. 3:00 to 6:00 with maybe only like a 30 minute break in there, and then from 8:00 to 9:30. Unfortunately, that only involved me finishing 5 of the 7 problems, so it looks like Mr. Barrows will be getting another visit from me tomorrow.
Tomorrow the game is at Pearce, so I may or may not get home in time to make a post. Unless the game goes long I’m guessing I will, but just a small disclaimer regardless.

Up until this fall, I’ve archived numerous TV shows onto VHS tapes. Survivor and The Amazing Race were two shows that I used to tape religiously, but now I don’t tape either. Why? Well, I never actually watched the tapes, and I finally admitted to myself that converting them over to digital and archiving them on my computer was just never going to happen. Survivor I now just Tivo (but I’m usually home Thursday nights to watch anyway), and TAM I torrent on my computer here at school to watch when I have some spare time. Now, stuff like Prison Break I still record on tapes (as I will 24 when it comes back on) because my dad likes to watch those also and we (at the moment) do not have a DVR upstairs on our HDTV. Maybe getting one from Time Warner wouldn’t be a horrible idea, but my experience with the Comcast iteration was not one of UI glory.
What our Tivo does allow me to do is make digital archives of shows that I’d probably never buy on DVD (and may never even come out). I’ve been working on Legends of the Hidden Temple (an old Nick game show) since we got our Tivo, and I decided tonight to also start getting Flight 29 Down (a current Discovery Kids show). Again, why? Yes, I’ll admit these aren’t going to be things that I watch all that often, but never underestimate the value of having a couple of hours of video burned onto a DVD when a long plane or car trip comes around. Once we get a file server set up, many of these may live there also to be accessible on demand from around our network (you know, stuff like Media Center PCs and Apple’s iTV that we’ve yet to get as of now but are still in the purchasing scope). I may be the only one that ever watches it, and it may only be a couple of times that I ever do, but hey, what good is technology if you can’t play around with it occasionally??

This afternoon I spoke with the FBI, and apparently I didn’t rank high enough against the other applicants to have my application sent onto their headquarters. This wasn’t completely unexpected seeing as how I’m a junior solely based on numbers in a computer, but they did say that they hoped I would apply next year, so that’s always a good sign. This means (as I said last week) I’ll probably just do summer school unless some company approaches me about an interview (like Mary Kay did).

Today didn’t involve anything out of the ordinary (and don’t take that the wrong way, that’s a good thing). 3 classes, food, homework…nothing stressful or unexpected. If you find that boring, just think how your life would be if I hadn’t made a blog post today.
Tomorrow I should hear from the FBI (although I was jokingly told that I could get called as late as Thursday or Friday, I know how that goes) on where I am in the rankings for being considered. Again, I’d love to get it as I think it would be really cool, but my world wouldn’t end if I don’t.
Don’t point out by naming this post “The Titleless Post” I gave it a title and therefore am contradicting myself. First, I don’t want to hear it. Second, there is no spoon…

My experiences yesterday have been documented quite well, and I spent about 2 hours last night reading The End, so yesterday was pretty much out for getting any game playing done. Today after church I’ve been in this long cycle of working/procrastinating on preparing answers to the exam questions for my Politics/Values class (I’ve probably spent more time procrastinating than it would have taken for me to just do it), so that left me without any game progress this weekend.
This next week shouldn’t be too bad as I only have the one test along with usual homework and a single football game (Friday at J.J. Pearce, which should be an easy win seeing as how they’re 0-3 in district so far). Hopefully, this means I might be able to spend a little time either playing games (HL2 comes to mind) or working on SICAT.

This afternoon I went to go see The Departed after hearing from a couple of my friends that it was a good movie. It took me about an hour just to figure out who was working undercover for who and who they were pretending to work for. Once I got that straightened out, I then kept wondering where the real plot was (which never seemed to materialize, except for the fact that all these people hated each other). Not a good movie in my book at all. My rating: 3/10.
Tonight I had to go see Avenue P in the Town of Q, a dance production at UTD in order to fulfill a requirement for my Exploration of the Arts class and not have to miss a Friday night football game. The music was songs taken from 7-8 different musicals, and they were tried to be linked by various short video sequences. The opening one (which lasted for a good 6 minutes) was just this video of Google Earth zooming in and out on various locations with various notes scattered around, and that left both my friend and me wondering what in the world what Google Earth had to do with modern dance (pun completely intended). That paper should be an interesting one when the time comes…

Well, we finally broke the “magic” 60 barrier we tried to get to so many times yet failed repeatedly. This number is actually the cause of 10 touchdowns, and the only reason it wasn’t 70-0 was that the extra point on our last touchdown hit the left upright. This also extends our winning streak to 21 games, a school record that we’ve kept extending after we tied the old one of 18 against Bishop Lynch 4 weeks ago. With J.J. Pearce not doing too well, it looks like we might be headed for Division I again in the playoffs.
Preorders for the Nintendo Wii started today, and even though I didn’t get one (the only Gamestop I went to after school had already sold out their allotment), I’m not overly worried. The general consensus among people online is that it shouldn’t be too difficult to walk into a store on launch day (November 19th) and pick one up. Guess that means I’ll be hitting the Targets, Walmarts, and Best Buys around here on that day. If you think about it, the majority of my consoles I actually haven’t even gotten on launch day; my N64, PS2, and Xbox were all purchased months (or even a year or two) after their launch, I’ve still yet to get a 360, and I made up my mind after hearing the $600 price that I wasn’t getting a PS3 until at least a price drop of $200. Handhelds, on the other hand, I usually have gotten on launch day (GBA, GBA SP, DS, and PSP), but generally those launches aren’t as “controlled” as consoles (but until this year, console launches haven’t really been either).
