Win or Go Home

Last night, McKinney North was in this position; now, so are we. Our game just never got off the ground in a 17-1 loss tonight that ties the series at 1-1, with Game 3 tomorrow night back at Allen HS at 7:30. For the record, this is the biggest loss that HP has suffered not only in the baseball games I’ve worked, but also out of the entire last 2 (possibly 3) years. Last year we lost to Tomball in the second game of the Austin tournament when they scored 17 runs, but we at least managed 4 in that one.

When the bus got back to HP, the team went out on the football field but Preston and I took everything into the training room first. Once we were done I headed out to see what they were meeting about, and it was essentially the seniors saying that since tomorrow could be their last game for everyone to work together and play their hardest. I felt compelled to chime in and say that I kew how the seniors felt seeing as how I had gone through this last year, and for the sophomores and juniors they’ll get additional chances, but the seniors won’t.

We’ll see how it goes tomorrow. I’m still optimistic, but considering this is the first playoff game we’ve lost, I’m a little more cautious.
