About Time for (Another) Update

October 24th, 2005

I promise that I was thinking about making one this weekend, but I’ve been too involved with Jade Empire, my new game of the (insert arbitrary time frame here from moment to millenia). It’s really fun, and I’ve been able to get into the story (unlike KOTOR) having spent 6+ hours on not even the first 2 chapters (out of a total of 7). Would be more helpful if it went a little faster, but I’m not going to start complaining. Yet….

We easily beat Wylie on Friday (42-14), so our chances are looking good for not only making it to the playoffs but going farther than we did last year also. Christine asked me if I was going to get a ring if we won state since I’ve worked every game up to this point and will (hopefully) be able to work all the playoff games. Answer is that I’m not really sure, I’ll let the coaches decide when/if that happens — it’d be cool to get one, but I’m officially not a student anymore and that’s not the reason why I’m working the games in the first place.

Is the Battle Already Won?

October 9th, 2005

I have to stay out here for the rest of this school year, I’m well aware of that. Next year, however, I’ve already been preparing for the “showdown” over if I have to stay out here again or if I can do what I want and stay at home. Comments my parents (specifically my mom) have been making over the past week make me think that getting my way might be a lot easier than I was anticipating. Ever since school started I have been making small comments that at least got the response that made me believe the issue was up for debate. The past few days though my mom has made the comment numerous times about me being out here as “Freshman 101″ that’s a required class the first year. Is she purposefully playing with my mind or is this a sign that they’re really not going to make me stay out here next year?

Lots of people can’t figure out why I’d want to stay at home when being out here means that I have a lot more freedom. First, I’ve always gotten along with my family exceptionally well. I don’t have any siblings that I want to escape from, and my parents and I rarely ever get into any big arguments. Second, even though I’m sure my space out here is a lot more than what my friends have who are living in dorms, the vast majority of my entertainment items are still at my house. Yeah, my computer is out here and I can bring my GBA/DS/PSP whenever I want, but most of my gaming time is spent with my consoles. The only way I can see me not wanting to stay at home next year is if I transferred somewhere out of the DFW area (even anywhere as close as Austin (College, not the city) or Trinity since that would be much more than a 15 minute drive). I don’t see that happening, but anything is possible…

And as a side note, HP has a holiday tomorrow for Columbus Day, but we aren’t so lucky. I just have to keep reminding myself that we get out on December 5th and get over a month off and it doesn’t bother me quite as much. :)

Time for an Update

October 4th, 2005

Yeah, so….anyone miss me? Anyone look at this and think “It sure has been a long time since Jeff updated his blog.” Didn’t think so.

Today I have the grand total of one class today (CS). The freshman class doesn’t meet at all this week, and we have the day off in history, so outside of the 11:00-12:15 timeframe, I have the rest of the free (granted I also have baseball this afternoon, but that’s voluntary so I don’t really count that). Essentially all I have to do today is finish up reviews for tests Thursday and Friday so I do well on them.

We start district play this Friday with a 5-0 record for the first time in 3 years. Granted, the record in the regular season doesn’t mean much for the playoffs (as we learned last year in both football and baseball).
