Reason For Being A Trainer
If you ask me about being a trainer, chances are my answer is something along the lines of “The games are fun, but practice is horrible because all we do is sit there for about 3 hours each day.” Then most people ask the question: “Then why are you one?” The general answer I give is so that I can be the baseball trainer in the spring and have Athletics 8th period. However, games like the one tonight can be added to that list, also.
2 teams, both 2-0 in district and tied for 1st place — that was the situation HP and Wylie were in before the game tonight. Before tonight, the Scots were undefeated at home since we’ve had Coach Allen. We knew that it was going to be a close game, but what happened tonight stunned everyone. The refs would not call holding against Wylie, even though they did it about every other play. They waved off a blatant penalty that allowed Wylie to score 2 points on an interception on a 2 point conversion. Near the end of the game, they gave Wylie a 40-yard pass on a 3rd down that should have been incomplete. The final score? Wylie 34, Highland Park 35. Guess what? We’re still undefeated at home. :)
